Here I have for sale my own personal MG A Roadster.

It is a 1958 Mk1 1500cc version, and was originally supplied to the US as many were back then. It remains in original left hand drive specification, and has seen extensive restoration over the years.

I bought the car whilst I was living in Dubai. It has been brought there with really good bodywork, but some of the mechanicals and the interior were the worse for wear. So I replaced all the rear suspension springs, bushes, drop links etc; a new Tourist Trophy stainless steel exhaust was fitted; the seats were completely re-trimmed along with fitting of new carpets. All instruments were removed, cleaned and refitted with a new dashboard wiring loom.

The light units have been upgraded to halogen units correctly aiming for the UK market, and new sidelights in the correct Mk1 style were fitted to replace the ones on the car which were from a 1600.

All chrome work was re-plated, and a new mohair hood was fitted. Most recently the car had a new electronic SU pump fitted with new fuel pipes from the tank to pump; and pump to carbs.

It is also fitted with a period Mallory could for extra spark; and I also installed a revoted electric fan given the Dubai temperatures! The car has been converted to negative earth, and has the original style twin 6v batteries. I also fitted a retro sound digital radio with bluetooth and hands free with discrete speakers fitted.

The hood was renewed with a mohair example, and comes with tonneau; removable side screens; and hood bag. And then it was fitted with new chromed wire wheels fitted with the period correct Michelin tyres.

The steering wheel is a Motalita wood rim unit as I found the original a little restrictive for getting in and out of the car - it will come with it for total originality.

The car was imported to the UK when I returned and has been a centrepiece in my showroom since then. I put it through an MOT on return although it wasn't required, and got one advisory on a 64 year old car. It has done virtually no mileage so I have decided to sell. It shows no previous owners in the DVLA record as it was imported.

It is a very good and genuine example but does have some small flaws - so is priced competitively for that reason. The mileage shows at 6,177 so we have to assume it is 106,177.

This will be a private transaction between myself and the buyer, and as you can understand we cannot offer a warranty on a classic car of this age. You are therefore welcome to arrange any independent inspection you may like.

Please call the office on 01666 504505 if you would like to arrange to view the car.
