LOTUS ELAN

This Elan is a 1992 model, originally registered in January 1991, and then registered in Jersey on May 1997. Subsequently imported and first registered on the mainland in 2005, it shows low mileage for its age backed up with lots and lots of receipts and records.

The car was subject to a body off chassis and suspension rebuild in 2019; the seats were professionally re-trimmed in leather as you can see in the photos in 2007; the wheels were professionally refurbished in 2019; and the paintwork was treated to detailing and ceramic protection at the same time - though it does need some TLC now as there are some stone chips. The car has also been fitted with a Piper Exhaust

We have an assessment of the car when last sold in 2020 to the last owner from a respected Lotus specialist who could only say that the rear caliper slides needed replacing - commenting on how good the car is.

It is extremely good underneath with all running gear appearing as it is at around 3 years old! The car drives and handles exactly as you would expect given the work that has been done.

So this one has had all the expensive work done, and with the Isuzu Turbo engine offers a great drive.

The M100 Elan has been named as one of the best handling front wheel drive cars of all time and you can see why.

There are one or two areas that need attention. There is a small hole in the roof; and the roof seals need reseating. Also you will see one pice of trim inside is missing which is difficult to locate as no longer stocked by Lotus.

The details of the work that has been done so far is listed below, and any prospective buyer can see all the receipts and documents in the file when they view the car. UPDATE - the car went to our local Lotus dealer Williams last week, and is now fully serviced with a clean bill of health from Williams.

One to be seen if you want to avoid expensive restoration bills on another.

The car will be sold with a 6 month warranty, and part exchange is always welcome. The private plate (which cost £640 in 2005 - we have the receipt) will stay with the car.
